Velko Kanev — “Размах, повече размах трябва!”

Velko Kanev had that rare ability to be hilarious, painfully human and completely unforgettable at the same time. His characters carried humour, irony and warmth — and always that unmistakable presence that could fill an entire room.
This illustration is my tribute to one of the most beloved faces of Bulgarian theatre and cinema.
Why I drew him
Because Velko Kanev had a presence you simply couldn’t ignore.
Not the loud kind — the kind that comes from talent, intelligence and perfect timing. He could make you laugh with one look and, a second later, leave you with something much deeper.
“Размах, повече размах трябва!” felt like the perfect line to keep with this portrait — playful, memorable and somehow useful far beyond the stage.
