ARTRIOTI — The Faces We Remember
A portrait of Aleko Konstantinov — writer, satirist and one of the sharpest observers of Bulgarian society.
With humour, intelligence and uncomfortable precision, his writing continues to feel surprisingly contemporary. His words make us laugh, but very often they also make us recognise ourselves.

WHY I DREW HIM
I drew Алеко Константинов because his humour never feels harmless or empty.
„Европейци сме ний, ама все не сме дотам.“
There is wit in those words, but also something painfully familiar — the contradiction between who we want to be and who we actually are.
More than a century later, Aleko can still make us smile, feel slightly uncomfortable and think at the same time.
That is exactly why he belongs in ARTRIOTI.
I draw them so we don’t forget them.
