A portrait of Elin Pelin — one of the most important Bulgarian writers and one of the defining voices of Bulgarian literary realism.
His stories capture everyday life with remarkable warmth, humour and honesty. Through ordinary people, village life, family, hardship and small human joys, Elin Pelin created a world that feels deeply Bulgarian and at the same time universally human.

WHY I DREW HIM
I drew Елин Пелин because his writing finds meaning in ordinary life.
There is no need for grand heroes in his stories. He writes about people as they are — stubborn, funny, vulnerable, hopeful, flawed.
That honesty is what makes his work stay with us.
His characters belong to another time, yet their emotions, struggles and little victories still feel familiar today.
I draw them so we don’t forget them.
