Why I drew him
Because Yavorov’s poetry has a kind of emotional intensity that is impossible to ignore.
There is beauty in it, but never without longing. Love, but never without vulnerability. His words feel intimate and personal even more than a century later.
I wanted this portrait to carry a little of that same sensitivity.
