Todor Kolev had a rare talent for turning an ordinary character into someone you remember for years. “Фалшив герой” carries exactly that spirit — witty, theatrical and just a little bit rebellious.
This illustration is part of my ARTRIOTI collection — my tribute to Bulgarian artists and cultural icons who have stayed with us far beyond the stage and screen.
Why I drew him
Because Todor Kolev had a presence you simply couldn’t ignore.
He could make you laugh with one expression and, almost in the same moment, reveal something painfully true about people and life.
That combination of humour, intelligence and humanity is exactly why I wanted him to be part of ARTRIOTI.
